El robí és un mineral de la varietat del corindó (óxid d’alumini i crom). El seu nom prové del llatí Ruber que significa “roig”, ja que té un color vermell intens. Li correspon la duresa 9 a l’escala de Mohs i és considerat una de les quatre gemmes més importants juntament amb el Safir, la Maragda i el Diamant.
Es troba principalment en jaciments de Birmania, Sri Lanka, India, Madagascar, Tailandia, Brasil, Colombia, Xina i Rússia, entre d’altres.
El robí és considerada la pedra més poderosa de l’univers, i és la gemma dels nascuts al Juliol. Tenir un Robí t’aporta alegria i pau i, si la col·loques sota el coixí, pot allunyar-te els malsons. Ruby is a mineral from the variety of corundum (aluminum oxide and chromium). Its name comes from Ruber, latin name for red because it has a intense red color. It has a hardness of 9.0 on the Mohs scale and it’s considered one of the four precious stones, together with the sapphire, the emerald, and the diamond. Rubies have historically been mined in Birmania, Sri Lanka, India, Madagascar, Tailandia, Brasil, Colombia, China, and Russia.
